SITE stands for Sloan Information Technology Entrepreneurs. It is a loosely coupled group of people in the software (broadly interpreted) world who are entrepreneurs, operating execs, venture/angel funders, and service providers, such as lawyers and recruiters. Many of the attendees are affiliated somehow with Sloan, but it is not a requirement by any means. I started the group with
Dharmesh Shah and host the meetings at my home. We have had a couple of them already and plan to continue running them as long as there is continued interest.
The meetings seem to be connecting people in a far more meaningful way than I expected. The last meeting had about 25 people, about half of whom had recently founded a company. It seems like these founder types have met potential hires, Sloan students interested in working on projects (i.e. $50k business plan competition), potential investors, and advisors.
